Overview
This recording has been reissued in the Essential Baroque Masterpieces collection with an exclusive interview of Céline Frisch and Pablo Valetti:
"Right from our first Bach disc ‘in real parts’, that’s to say one musician to a part, we planned to cover the whole of Bach’s orchestral music. To do that, we had to envisage a certain expansion of the group to integrate more musicians. So we looked for an interesting string repertory that would allow us to hone our expressive and technical skills with a larger number of strings. The concerto grosso form was the obvious choice. Avison’s concerti grossi represented a challenge in both technical and musical terms, which we took up with enthusiasm."
