A breath. A contemplation. From the ‘Voix Humaines’ by Marin Marais to André Campra’s sacred motets, from the heartfelt tones of the viola da gamba to the subtle expressiveness of the voice, Tales of Eternity reach deep into the soul, capturing us in a timeless moment where even silence speaks.
During the many services in the King's Chapel where the motets by Campra and Dumont inspired devotion, music at Court was deeply rooted in faith. Beyond these spiritual ceremonies, the sounds of flutes and violins filled Louis XIV's private chambers with the lively rhythms of gavottes, rigaudons and sarabandes. Another form of eternity is revealed when the haunting beauty of Marin Marais’ Sonnerie de Sainte Geneviève leaves us in a state of dreamy
introspection.
With her voluptuous tone, Claire Lefilliâtre brings delicate nuance to the motets, performing with deep sensitivity. Recognized as one of the foremost specialists in 17th-century French music, her profound understanding of the texts adds a unique depth to her performance, enhancing our listening experience.
From stirring emotions to meditative calm, Café Zimmermann weaves together French music, Italian and Flemish influences, sacred motets, royal pieces and peasant dances, into a single shared moment: the Tales of Eternity.
