A musical and temporal journey...
In the 17th century, Leipzig, a bustling commercial city, has just discovered coffee. To enjoy this fashionable new drink while discussing politics, philosophy, and the arts, people gather in cafés like the renowned establishment of Mr. Zimmermann. Every Friday afternoon, between sips of coffee, chocolate, and pastries, this is where Telemann and Bach would premiered works that continue to captivate us three centuries later.
As the concert unfolds, the harpsichord, flute, violin, and viola da gamba improvise and perform with virtuosity, recreating the vibrant atmosphere of Mr Zimmermann's iconic café.
